California Vacation Part 6 - Cambria to Seaside

We woke up Saturday morning and went to Hearst Castle to tour.  We were very impressed with the castle, the history, and learned a lot!  We would love to go back and tour more of the castle, as we only spent about 2 hours there.

We drove down the road from Hearst Castle to see the Sea Lions and Elephant Lions....

Then we drove back to Moonstone beach to have lunch by the ocean and watch the dolphins

We drove to Seaside after lunch....the views were phenomenal!  We quickly unloaded at our AirBnB at Seaside and went to Point Lobos National Park https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=571 until dusk.  We ate dinner in Carmel-by-the-Sea

California Vacation Part 5 - Malibu to Cambria

Friday, September 13 we left Malibu and drove to Santa Barbara.  It was an overcast day, in general.  Santa Barbara wasn't our favorite, but we were only there a couple of hours and only walked around.  We walked the pier and State Street.  We had lunch and then had a wine tasting at the Funk Zone.  The wine tasting was our favorite experience, as Darrell's flight was in honor of the movie, "Sideways," and the man in charge of the wine tasting was originally from the Quad Cities (Illinois side).

The drive to Cambria was beautiful, but Cambria was fogged in so our planned hike was a bust.  We ended the day by eating at Linn's Restaurant https://www.linnseats.com/

California Vacation Part 4 - San Diego to Topanga Canyon

We left San Diego on September 12 to drive to Malibu.  First, was a stop at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve for some hiking....

We then started our drive up Route 1 and stopped at Laguna Beach for lunch.

We continued on and arrived in the Malibu area in time to drop our stuff off at our AirBnB in Topanga Canyon, and then head to see some of the sights in Malibu.  A note about our AirBnB - it was definitely one of the most unique places we have stayed at and gave us a feel of living in a "hippie commune."

We toured the Adamson House grounds (we were there after hours, so we didn't tour the inside).

We then headed to Point Dume State Beach to hike the Point Dume Cove Trail.  This hike gave us beautiful views of the shoreline, beach, and ocean.

We finished the day by eating at The Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market and Patio Cafe.
