Spring break visit to Carnegie Science Center

We decided to take a week off at Easter and enjoy a "Spring Break."  The weather decided not to cooperate, so a visit to the Carnegie History Museum was in order.  Enjoy our visit in pictures.....

Sports update

One sports season is over and we are quickly into another one.  Evan really enjoys playing sports, but his favorite to play currently is basketball.  He was able to play on two basketball teams - the 4th-6th grade team and the 6th-8th grade team - both a homeschool league that travels to play local private Christian schools.  It was fun seeing him be a leader in the younger team and play his heart out in the older (and much taller) team.  The above pictures are compliments of Alison Agnew - thank you so much for taking such wonderful pictures!

And Ann-Marie had a wonderful gymnastics competition season, continually improving her skills and scores with each meet.  She is now training hard on new skills for next season!

Alec did not participate in any sports over the winter and is looking forward to soccer starting this week.  Evan is participating in track in the month of April, with two track meets this month.

Kalahari 2013

Trying to catch up on our family blog pictures....so Ann-Marie's last gymnastics meet of the season was at Kalahari water park, which is always so much fun.  She ended her year on a high note...2nd Overall in her level and age group.  So the rest of the weekend was for family fun!  I'm also posting a video of Darrell riding the Swahili Swirl for the first time.  Enjoy!

School pictures 2012-2013

 Alec: age 7; First Grade
 Ann-Marie: age 9; Fourth Grade
Evan: age 12; Sixth Grade

Evan's 12th birthday

It's hard to believe that it has been over a month since I've updated our family blog.  This stage of life we are in is a busy one.  Evan turned 12 on February 19th.  We were blessed with a special visitor - Uncle Kurt was in town for one day for business.  He was able to come the Chuck-E-Cheese for our family celebration.

On Friday, Evan had his closest friends over for a sleepover.  He had just finished a goal of reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so his cake was the ring.  I tried my hand at elvish.....Evan thought it was cool.

A houseful of boys, ages 10-13, and lots of food and energy!!!!
We are so proud of Evan and the young man he is becoming.  He loves sports; especially basketball, football, and soccer.  He is opinionated, yet sensitive and thoughtful.  He has a great group of close friends and really cares about his family.  He is growing in the Lord and loves going to youth group and church.  We are excited to see what the next year is like for our new 12 year old!

whirlwind January

This new year has started off so fast, that I hardly know where to start....so here's a snapshot of what we've been up to.......basketball games.....
a trip to the Carnegie Science Museum and Wholey's, where Mr. Wholey himself showed us a live lobster....
 gymnastics meets......
birthday parties in Maryland
and, unfortunately, an unexpected trip back to Iowa to see my Grandpa before he died last week.

So keeping up with this blog has been last on a long list of priorities, in which the blog lost.

When the schedule settles down here, maybe I'll do a better job of keeping up?

Or, better yet, I'll heed my Grandfather's last words of advice to me:

"ENJOY YOUR FAMILY."

Which means, sometimes the blog will be unusually quiet, because that is exactly what I am doing.
